General Questions
Do you take donations?
We do! We take donations of any supplies from beads and buttons to zippers.
Thanks to relationships with numerous local charitable quilting, knitting, and crochet
groups, any excess fabric and fiber materials get used to comfort and warm those in need.
Art Salvage in Spokane is the benefactor of any items that make us scratch our heads, or
any supplies that we don't have home for that aren't fiber or fabric. The volunteers at Art
Salvage also create some of our favorite craft kits sold in the shop.
Do you carry any...?
Probably!
Because we sell pre-loved materials alongside new products, our stock is prone to change.
That also means we have quite the variety of items that we sell in small quantities. If you
are looking for a specific brand or material, and we somehow don't have it, we are happy
to work with you to order or otherwise source what you need!
Why don't you carry...?
Part of our mission are to reduce excess waste in creating art and be considerate of the
environment in our creative pursuits. That is why we do take donations, but also why we
try to source the highest quality, environmentally conscious new materials.
We are also a small business and creators and artists ourselves. We know the value of
handmade items and the amount of work production takes. Sourcing new materials from
companies that value their employees and ensure they are properly paid, protected from
labor violations, and treated well, matters as much as caring for the environment.
For instance, acrylic yarn and paint are derived from petroleum. We do sell these items,
but they are acquired from second-hand sources (though usually brand new!). Any newly-
manufactured items sold in our shop are carefully sourced. For new yarn, we want to make sure it is natural, recycled, local, and sustainable. Extra bonus if they have been produced according to standards such as GOTS and OKEO Tex.
